Why Trump?

One thing that we keep hearing on the news right now is all the horrible things that people have to say about Donald Trump. With the way the media, all the media, is portraying him you would think that the world would absolutely end if he was elected as President. All sides of the political spectrum seem to have bad things to say about Trump. With all that the political spectrum has to say about how horrible Trump is you would think that he's not even in the running, right? However, as of right now he's not only in the running he's still the front runner. So, with all the bad publicity he has been getting how is Trump still in the game? Why do people want to vote for Trump?

The answer to those questions goes a little deeper than the media wishes you to believe. They want you to believe that those who vote for Trump simply have bought into the hype, that we're along for the ride. They want you to believe that we did so without thinking. Well, from what I have gathered from what I have seen and from what others have said here are the main points that people like about Trump.

First off, for many people you have a bonus in the main fact that he's not a politician. I know that the media condemns him for this exact point, but for many it is a plus instead of a minus. He's not a cookie cutter politician in any way shape or form. He's made mistakes but for many that makes him an even better candidate. In our country politics is a career field. You have people who have spend their whole lives grooming themselves in the art of getting votes and telling the people what they want to hear. To have someone in the arena who has not is refreshing to many. I know that the media sees this as one of his biggest downfalls and portrays it like all our Presidents have been politicians, but that was not how the system was to begin with. Past Presidents have been lawyers, writers, farmers, actors, school teachers, tailors, minsters, soldiers, and even businessmen (there are more professions listed than that, you can see them all here). As you can see, being a politician is not a requirement at all.

Secondly, he's not politically correct. Some people take it has him being offensive, but you can't hold an opinion at all without offending someone in this nation. We have been plagued for a long time by political double-speak. They want to make everyone happy. In order to make everyone happy you have to not have any opinions or have only 'safe' opinions that are approved by your political party. For the longest time we have had political candidates who have had no opinions! Who doesn't have an opinion? It's not realistic. The political system runs off of votes, in order to get the most votes you have to get the most people to like you and in order to do that they try to offend no one. Political correctness has seeped into every aspect of life in America. As I stated in one of my other posts, everyone is offended by everything today. The general population has come to believe that one of our rights in this country is the right not to be offended and unfortunately the politicians and legal system have backed them up far too much in this belief. Many people in our society today are tired of having to make everyone happy. We want to be able to express ourselves and our opinions without personal attacks about how horrible we are. Now we have a candidate who is experiencing the same woes that we see on a daily basis. Trump might be offensive to some, but unlike the other candidates he is real.

Thirdly, he's a rich businessman. Politicians for the longest time have told us how rich businessmen are what is wrong with the world. That they aren't doing their fair share and that this is the reason why the rest of us aren't wealthy. This has led to a large portion of people thinking that they are entitled to things that they have not earned. Here is the part that they don't want you to realize, you too can become wealthy in this nation. That was one of the wonders of this nation when it was younger was that anyone could make their own fortune. You didn't have to be born into a wealth and fortune in order to become wealthy. This was something new when our country was founded. People came from around the world to have the opportunity to improve their station in life. The point of the matter is that even today people can become like Trump. We all have the ability to earn as much money as we can get people to pay us. While there are safety requirements for most industries today, as long as your product is safe and people want to buy it then you can sell it. The hard part is developing a product that people want to buy. We hear success stories all the time about people who have went from rags to riches. We can too, if we find the magic combination, however this requires more work and failure than most people are willing to deal with. We shouldn't put our own personal failures on people who have succeeded. Shouldn't we trust a failing economy to someone who is known for turning around failing businesses. For many of his supporters the fact that he is a prospering businessman is a bonus not a negative.

Fourthly, he's part of the "1%". Every politician in the race makes so much more in a year than the average person that it's not even funny. They are all living large, but they don't want you to think that. I don't have the exact numbers, but those who are detractors of how much Trump makes wouldn't believe me anyways. But do the research, you'll find out that none of them are hurting financially and probably make a ton more than you do in a year.

Fifthly, he speaks what is on his mind. Again, in politics where they're trying to make everyone happy simply stating what comes to mind is seen as a bad thing. Yes, he's made some 'blunders' into territories that aren't good sound bytes and make him sound like a monster, but don't we all have those moments where what comes out of your mouth doesn't quite sound like you meant it to? Again, it means that he is real and truthful in what he says and is not just spouting rhetoric that was memorized

So, now the question would then turn to why vote for Trump. Well, I think you need to re-read the above. Those that want Trump in see at least some, if not all, of his 'failings' as strengths. So the question is, do you think that not being a politician, not being politically correct, being a business man, having made your own fortune, and speaking your mind are bad things? I would think that speaking what you see to be the truth, being ambitious and determined in what you want should all be good things. Wasn't that what this country was founded on? Shouldn't we get back to some more of that?
